Description | I'm training to be an engineer progenex cocoon To gaze upon varnish as clear as glass, applied to timber that is as smooth as silk, is to marvel at the true boatbuilder’s craft. Gilded lines and elegantly fashioned transoms combine to lift the spirits. Not for them the convenience of what we used to call “fibreglass” and which we must now refer to as GRP (glass-reinforced plastic). No; here only trees provide the raw material, whether they are British natives or tropical hardwoods. Some timber is reclaimed from older boats and buildings, for the likes of oak and teak and mahogany are of a durability that can last for centuries, properly prepared and cared for.
