On the negative side, the so called rising middle class has and will continue to give rise to a more consuming African society because the continents manufacturing base, though is said to be increasing is still small, giving rise to imports which leads to capital flight thereby robbing the continent of the little money it needs to embark on developments programmes that will uplift more of its people that find themselves in poverty.
